Cordant Recruitment are working in partnership with a global painted protective coatings business recruiting for an experienced Operational Excellence EMEA Manager to over, lead & develop 3 of their large scale manufacturing facilities within the UK, Europe & Dubai.

This role would suit an individual who is Degree educated currently working in the role of Operational Excellence Lead, Operational Excellence Specialist, Continuous Improvement Specialist, Continuous Improvement Lead or similar CI / Quality focused roles covering multiple sites within the UK & further afield

Operational Excellence EMEA Manager Job Specification:
Salary: upto £70k basic – with up to 20% annual bonus OTE of £84K (potentially including a car) + £8k relocation expenses tax free – aswell as potentially supporting relocation further by paying 3-6 months rent on a house close to the site

Based: North UK (65% of the time in the UK, 35% of time spent in Europe / Dubai, 7 – 21 days away at a time)

Overview of the Role:
To strive towards Customer Operational Excellence whilst dealing with the day to day functionality of the Quality and Lean BPI requirements.

Responsible for providing Operational Excellence support for the companies Aerospace EMEA Network
Leads major Business Process Improvement programs in the European Quality areas that deliver step changes in levels of customer satisfaction and business efficiency’s to the European market and territories receiving product sourced from it.
Utilizes and implements Lean Enterprise tools and metrics to further enhance the productivity of the network.
Works closely with the Global Aerospace Quality organization & the wider European Quality organization in order to define and implement strategies that raise the companies overall performance.
Quality Management System (the maintenance of a system, in accordance with ISO9001/EN9100, which provides for continual improvement, emphasizing defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste across the business)
Builds strong relationship with our main OEM customers, our PPG European Plant Locations, Research & Technology and EH&S
Customer Quality Representative (DSQR) (to assure that parts delivered to the Aerospace OEM manufacturer – i.e. Airbus – are in compliance with drawing, specification and condition of supply)
Principal Responsibilities:
To sponsor and drive implementation of Business Process Improvement initiative, especially capitalizing on Sigma Logic and Lean Enterprise techniques and using system and process changes to the best effect for the Aerospace business.
To implement and lead the European Quality Leadership Team to develop and implement broad and common approach , strategies and tactics for the implementation of BPI concepts in Aerospace Europe.
To formalize the quality program into business process.
To develop Quality partnerships with multinational customers and become recognized as the Quality Supplier and the primary contact.
To collaborate with colleagues from other SBU’s and European Functions to define and implement ‘the future state’ of the Aerospace Quality Organization’, including processes and systems in order to maximize the companies performance.
To build cross functional relationships and team working to enhance performance especially alongside the commercial and technical areas through implementing a Business Quality plan on all activities of Aerospace Europe.
To drive continuous improvement activities
Establish a set of externally bench marked best practice measures to ensure on-going competitiveness.
To ensure active leadership in company policy and practice, particularly in the areas of EHS, business conduct, business ethics, performance and learning, talent management and Quality.
Skills & Experience Requirements for this role are: (Functional/Technical Skills & Knowledge)

Bachelor of Science degree is required, an MBA preferred.
Used to working across sites employing 100’s & 1000’s
At least eight years of directly applicable experience in manufacturing; engineering experience in Mechanical/Chemical process environment with Quality aspects.
Minimum of three years of hands on experience in leading Six Sigma and Lean transformation, ideally in discrete manufacturing environment.
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt formal training, Black Belt certification preferred.
Practical experience in implementing Quality Operational Excellence (OpEx) practices such as APQP (Advanced Quality planning), New Product Introduction Phase Gate process, FMEA and 8Ds.
Experience in Quality systems such as ISO 9001, or AS9100 or TS 16949
Good interpersonal communication skills
Customer oriented
Self-initiating individual, persuasiveness
Cross-functional team leadership and communication are key
Planning and organization
Competence in managing coaching, counseling, steering and train people and projects.
Must be able to travel up to 60% of the time
